Photographs of "Forever" pre-restoration and during the restoration process

APRIL 2014
Slowly getting there - "Forever" has been in the "boat shed" for the past few months as the shed has evolved around it. The walls of the boat shed are two 40 foot containers high, one placed on the other and they were erected in January 2014. This is a very clever construct as it provided oodles of storage space that the yard desperately needed. Then custom made metal brackets for the roof beams were welded into place in February and the beams were installed in March. The perspex roof was added earlier this month which has given the lads in the yard the cover they needed to address the two main outstanding jobs - repair the coachroof teak decking to solve the annoying leak and to paint the Hallbery Rassy signature blue stripe on the hull and around the cockpit coaming. I was in Exmouth the weekend of 11th/12th April and was delighted to see that the hull has been sandblasted, the coachroof work is well advanced and the blue stripes have been done. Hopefully, the lads plan to get "Forever' out of the shed on Tuesday 15th April as Graeme Harris from Harris Rigging is booked to come down, sort out the mast and hopefully get it erected.
Once the mast is erected, we can then get all the required measurements for Des McWilliams so that he can start making the sails. Once the boom is in situ, Exe Sails and Canvas will be able to get the final measurements to make the sprayhood.
Incidentally, on Friday 11th April, the sky was blue, the temperature was a nice 17 degrees C and there was a lovely Force 4 southerly breeze. Can't wait to get the boat in the water now and start sailing her home.
The pictures below were taken on 12th April 2014.
